Vintage AKAI CR-81D 8 Track Stereo Player Cartridge Recorder. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
Very good condition vintage unit. Please see photos for cosmetic condition!
This unit has been tested for playback and record. It is both playing and recording tapes well. Both meters are working. The selector switch is working. FFwd and stop are working. I opened the machine and inspected the belt. It is intact and has life left. The pots have been cleaned and lubricated. I tested the record function by running my phone to the inputs with an rca y adapter. I then recorded from Spotify to an ampex pre recorded tape. The quality of the recording was actually quite good. The meters and gain controls are working. I experimented with the recording volume. Allowing the meters to peg into red would result in some distortion in the recording. Turning the volume down so that the meters were kept in the middle resulted in a good sounding recording.
